Reebok Freestyle Shoe Description

First making its appearance in 1982, the Reebok Freestyle was one of the first athletic shoes that were geared specifically toward women. Since its rise to fame and fashion in the 1980s, the Freestyle has also branched off into a similar men's shoe line called Ex-O-Fit.

By 1984, the Freestyle was said to be accounting for more than half of Reebok's sales. The Freestyle shoe was a representation of female empowerment, encouraging women to enter the world of aerobics and fitness.

The Reebok Freestyle is done up by two Velcro straps in the front and comes in a combination of both Velcro straps and shoelaces. The shoe itself it made of soft leather and has a gum sole. The 80s style shoe comes in a high-top or low-top design and can be bought in various colors such as blue, black and pink and patterns such as peacock feathers and designs such as the American flag.

The Freestyle received celebrity endorsements from Cindy Crawford and Paula Abdul. Actress Cybill Shepherd also wore a pair of orange Freestyles at the Emmy Awards ceremony in 1985.
