How to Dye Leather Ballet Shoes

If the only color the store had in your size was white, and your ballet company requires pink shoes, don't despair. With a little bit of professional dye and some patience, you can have shoes that look just like everybody else's in no time. You should know, however, that dying is not a science and results can vary from project to project, so if you can find the right color shoes in the store, that is a safer bet.

Instructions

Prepare the shoes for dyeing by pouring a little bit of Fiebing's deglazer onto the clean rag and wiping the leather vigorously. Make sure you get every spot.

Shake the dye to mix and pour a little bit onto the sponge brush.

Apply dye to the shoes in an even coat.

Allow dye to dry and repeat with a second coat.

Apply a third coat for a darker shade of the color you chose.

Allow dye to fully dry and apply the top coat with a clean sponge brush for a professional finish.
