How to Keep Boots From Misshaping

Boots stored wrongly become misshapen over time. This happens with leather boots, as leather can shrink or expand, but can happen with boots of other materials as well. When boots lose shape, they may be less comfortable. In addition, they may develop permanent, unattractive creases. Some stores sell boot racks for properly storing boots to prevent loss of shape. You can achieve the same effect, however, using inexpensive items from around the home.

Instructions

Wad newspaper or tissue paper loosely and push it into the toe of the boot. Fill up the space until it is firmly packed in.

Roll up a magazine and stick it into the boot, as suggested by Ecouterre's article Recycle Your Favorite Magazines Into Free Boot-Shapers by Yuka Yoneda. Use a magazine thick enough to prevent the boot from slouching. Add an extra magazine if one does not hold the boot up straight. If you do not have magazines available, insert several cardboard tubes left over from paper towel rolls until you acquire magazines.

Place the boots upright in a closet or other area where they will not get squished or otherwise bothered.
