How to Soften Leather Slippers

Leather slippers are a suitable way to keep your feet warm while walking around the house and a good way to prevent slips and falls as many leather slippers have a soles with anti-slip tread. Leather is a durable material that, if treated well, will last for years. Treating leather well does not mean simply cleaning it but also keeping the material soft. Brittle leather will tear and wear down faster and more easily.

Instructions

Brush the slippers with a shoe brush or a clean cotton cloth. Brush them vigorously, loosening any dust, debris or caked-on grime. Take the slippers outside and give them a good shake, gently tapping them against each other.

Dab a quarter-sized amount of all-natural leather conditioner onto another soft cloth. Distribute the leather conditioner onto the exterior of the shoe, buffing it with the cloth. Make sure the conditioner is well distributed.

Place the leather slippers in a place out of direct sunlight but in fresh air, such as a shady windowsill, so that they can dry. Keep the slippers away from heat.
