Over time, leather shoes can get very worn, and sometimes will need to be repaired or re-soled. To extend the life of your leather shoes, you'll want to care for them regularly. Store them on a cedar shoe tree. Womans Day magazine recommends using a spray-on water protector four times per year. And buff any scratches away with a cream for leather shoes.

Instructions

    1

Wipe any dirt or other residue from your leather shoes with a damp cloth. Dry with a clean towel or allow to air dry. (Drying leather with a direct heat source can harden and crack the leather, as it removes the natural oils.)

    2

Apply a shoe cream to all the leather surfaces. Select a shoe cream that is a shade lighter than the hue of your shoes. This will not only help cover the scratches, it can also moisturize the leather and refresh the color. Allow the shoe cream to dry.

    3

After a few minutes, buff your leather shoes with a soft brush.
