How to Replace Stilleto Heel Taps

When you notice the heel tap, the metal or plastic at the bottom of your heel, is getting loose or worn, it is time to replace it. By replacing it you are extending the wear time of your shoes. If you wait, the heel tap may break off and you may not be able to salvage your shoes. The process is an easy one, and you can be back to wearing your favorite shoes in no time.

Instructions

Remove the old heel tap. Because it is already worn, it should be fairly easy to remove with a pair of pliers. Twist the shoe gently in one hand while you pull the heel tap with the pliers in the other.

Place the new heel tap into the now-empty slot. Make sure the new heel tap is the right size.

Screw or hammer in the heel tap until it fits tightly. If it is loose, your shoe will be unstable when you walk.

Repeat these steps to fix your other heel.
