How to Fix Scuffs on Sneakers

For some, sneakers are about the fashion statement as much as the comfort and affordability of the product. This appearance is sullied when the shoes become covered with scuff marks. Repair these unwanted black and brown marks with a household product that is probably already found in your bathroom: toothpaste. Use toothpaste, not gel, to remove the scuff marks on your favorite sneakers before calling a professional or throwing the shoes in the trash.

Instructions

Wet a hand towel with water and 1/4 tbsp. liquid dish soap.

Work the soap into the lather and wipe down the affected area of the shoe to remove any dirt, grime or mud.

Wipe off the soapy water with a damp cloth and allow the area to dry completely.

Cover the end of a cotton swab with a dollop of white toothpaste. Do not use gel or toothpaste that contains any color.

Work the toothpaste into the scuff mark using overlapping circles.

Wipe away any excess toothpaste with a damp cloth.
