How to Make Precious Stones Adhere to Shoes

Add sparkle to your new pair of wedding shoes or enhance the appeal of an old shoe with precious stones. Rather than purchasing expensive jewel-studded shoes, you can easily embellish your shoes with faux precious stones such as pearls, ruby, emeralds, diamantes or rhinestones. Use epoxy glue to adhere the precious stones to your shoes, and dazzle your friendsl with your style statement. Create shoe designs with the gemstones or prominently place a single stone in the center of the shoe.

Instructions

Wipe your shoes clean with a damp cloth to remove any dirt, and dry. Select the areas on the shoes where you want to affix the precious stones and lightly mark them with a pencil.

Squeeze out a little epoxy glue in a plastic bowl. Dip a toothpick in the glue and apply it on the areas that you marked with the pencil. Ensure that the glue spots are smaller than the gemstones that you are using; otherwise the glue will be visible from around the sides of the rhinestone. A strong, industrial-strength epoxy is necessary to bond the jewels to the leather.

Lift the precious stone with a pair of tweezers or jewel setter and set it on the glue spot. Repeat the process with the remaining precious stones and glue spots on both shoes. Set the shoe pair aside and let them dry for 24 hours to allow the gluing bond to set completely.
