How to Clean Mud Stains on Satin Heels

Women love satin heels because the shiny fabric gives their looks a touch of glamor. Satin shoes, however, are not the best all-weather footwear, and you might find yourself walking through a patch of mud. While it is best to protect your shoes with a spray before you wear them, there are options for cleaning mud stains from your satin heels. While you can find special cleaning cloths for satin shoes, you need only a couple items from around the house.

Instructions

Use a clean, dry cloth to gently wipe away excess dirt or mud from the shoes. Using a dry cloth prevents you from wiping more dirt into the shoes and furthering the stains.

Use a cool, damp cloth to blot the stains. Start at the top of the shoe and work downward and follow the grain of the fabric. Simply blot; do not rub into the fabric.

Dry your shoes with a hand towel. Again, do not rub, but rather blot the fabric.

Check your shoes for any stubborn stains that the water did not remove. Use a gentle hand soap with the damp cloth to blot out these stains. Do not use the soap on clean parts of the shoe. Dab the shoe with a damp cloth without soap to remove the soap. Dry by blotting with a hand towel.
