How to Wear Slides and Mules

Mules and slides are basically the same type of shoe; they are backless with a moderate to high heel. Mules and slides are considered casual shoes, which are not always appropriate for formal events. While wearing slides and mules, you need to abide by certain fashion rules to make sure that the look works for you.

Wear slides and mules with more conservative outfits. You shouldn't wear a pair of mules to a very formal event; they're more appropriate for the office.

Pair your mules with pants. Since mules and slides are backless, they look best with longer pants or a long skirt. Pants hide the back of your feet while wearing the shoes.

Find slides and mules in different materials. These types of shoes are available in leather, fabric, vinyl and more.

Compare them to traditional high heeled shoes. One of the biggest attractions of the mule is that it's much more comfortable than regular heels. When shopping for mules, try them on and compare the feel to a normal heeled shoe.
