How to Paint Dance Shoes

Dance shoes come in limited colors and generally contain no designs. Because dancing is an artistic sport, several dancers desire a way to express themselves through a design on their shoes. Painting dance shoes is a fantastic way to express your creative personality through your shoes. With a few music shape stencils, or stencils with your favorite shapes and patterns, dance shoes can easily be painted and personalized.

Instructions

Wad up paper towels and stuff them inside of the shoes. This will prevent damage from paint inside of the shoes.

Paint the entire dance shoe first with fabric paint if you desire. This should be done now because adding designs will make this step extremely difficult. Allow paint to fully dry before continuing.

Place stencil on the surface of the shoe. Hold the stencil on the top and bottom of the shape. Make sure the shape is placed where you want it to be before painting.

Dab paint onto the shape with a small sponge brush. Apply a small amount of paint in a consistent manner over the shape. Continue to fill in the shape until it appears as the shape. Carefully remove stencil and allow paint to dry.

Paint on additional shapes and designs on the dance shoes until they appear how you desire. Apply a second coat if needed.

Remove paper towel once paint is completely dry.
