Platforms, originally called chopines, were popular in southern Europe in the mid 1500s, when heights reached up to 30 inches. They were trendy again in the 1930s, 1960s and 1970s, and are back in fashion today. No wonder-these fun and funky shoes add height and make legs look longer.
