How to Keep Your Foot From Sliding Into a Toe Box

Wearing shoes that fit properly can make a huge difference in how your feet, legs and back feel at the end of a long day. The toe box is the part of your shoe that is designed to house your toes. If your foot slides forward into the toe box as you step, you can rub blisters on your foot. This type of sliding movement also can cause muscle pain as the days goes by. You can remedy this problem through a variety of strategies.

Instructions

    1

Measure your feet yourself with a chart or go to a local shoe store and have your feet measured by a sales person. This will help you to know your true size. If you buy shoes that are too large, your feet can slip forward as you walk.

    2

Wear shoes that have low heels or no heels. Shoes with higher heels can tilt your foot forward and cause you to slide.

    3

Wear socks with your shoes. Socks provide traction for your feet and take up a little more room in your shoe, which can prevent you from sliding into the toe box.

    4

Use shoe inserts to help your shoes fit better. If you have slightly too much room in your shoes, an insert can take up the slack and keep your shoes from slipping.

    5

Check your laces. If you skip loops or don't tie your shoe tightly enough, you may have problems with slipping.
