If you're wearing old sneakers but they're looking too dull, you don't have to discard them and buy new ones when you can make the old ones look nice. One thing you should do is wash the sneakers first because this process will make your shoes clean enough for you to decorate them. Your local arts and crafts store is a good place to find items to embellish old sneakers.

Spray your sneakers another color. Spread three large sheets of newspaper onto a hard surface. Take the shoelaces out of your shoes and put the shoes on the newspaper. Place some crumpled paper inside your shoes. Choose a can of fabric spray paint in your desired color and paint both the shoelaces and the shoes. Allow them to dry for 30 to 45 minutes.

Draw some interesting designs on your sneakers. For example, if you want to express your love of Cajun cooking and you're from Louisiana, draw items such as a bowl of gumbo, crawfish, shrimp and oysters.

Decorate your shoes will small objects. Visit your arts and crafts store and look for cutouts of pictures, beads, buttons, sequins or other small objects. Sew or glue them onto your shoes.
