How to Measure Wide Feet

Many shoes are made for people that have wide feet. Unfortunately, each shoe brand tends to fit differently. Instead of trying to make your foot fit in your shoe, it's important to measure your foot properly and buy the correct size. The right size will be more comfortable and supportive for your foot.

Instructions

Place the piece of paper on a hard floor surface without any crevices or cracks. A laminate, untextured vinyl or smooth wood floor works well.

Place your foot on the blank paper and place the pencil behind your heel and mark the paper. Also mark the paper at the end of your longest toe and then on the sides of your foot at the widest point.

Place your other foot on a separate piece of paper or the same one if it's big enough. Mark this foot in the same way.

Place the end of the tape measure at the heel mark and draw it tightly across the paper to the toe mark. Take down this measurement in inches. Then place the end of the tape measure at one of the side marks and draw it tightly across to the other side mark. Write down this measurement.

Use your measurements and a shoe size chart either at the shoe store or online to determine the appropriate shoe size and width for you.
