How to Make Hemp Sandals

Hemp is a durable and easily grown plant that has an abundance of industrial and commercial uses around the world. It makes some of the toughest, longest-lasting paper known to man. Its oil and seeds are full of beneficial nutritional properties and its fibers can be used to make exceptionally strong cloth that will last for years without a tear. As hemp grows so quickly and easily, it is a valuable, renewable resource that environmentally conscious people will want to take advantage of as often as possible. To that end, it's a wonderful idea to learn how to make a variety of hemp products, such as sandals.

Instructions

Trace the outline of your feet onto the cork tile and then cut out the outlines with scissors or a knife.

Place a piece of hemp cloth over the top of your foot, pressing firmly down on the floor on either side of your foot. Make a mark on the top of the cloth where it meets the floor on each side, and then continue to trace the line around the top of your foot.

Cut out the tracing of the top of your foot.

Fold the edges of the hemp cloth under by about 1 inch and then staple it along the inside edge of the cork tile.

Use a pair of pliers to smooth down the staples on the bottom of the cork tile.
