Satin shoes are great for special events, and there is an advantage to purchasing them that you won't find with most shoe types. The advantage of buying satin shoes is that you can stain them to match your garment perfectly. Whether you are dying your shoes for a wedding, a prom or some other event, your ensemble will be completely coordinated once you change the color of your shoes.

Instructions

Preparing the Multi-Purpose Dye

    1

Pour 1 liter of water into the pot. Make sure that the pot you are using is an old one. Once you prepare the dye in the pot it cannot be used to cook food in the future.

    2

Bring the water to a boil.

    3

Put on the gloves. Add a pinch of dye to the boiling water.

    4

Stir the boiling water and the dye thoroughly with a spoon. Continue to add dye until you reach your desired color.

Staining Satin Shoes

    5

Use a clean sponge to apply a small amount of dye to the testing piece that comes with your satin shoes. If the color on the testing piece is darker than you want it, mix more water to the dye mixture. If the color is lighter than you want, add another pinch of dye to the mixture.

    6

Apply the dye mixture to the satin shoes with a clean sponge. Shallwedance.info states that you should not panic if the color appears too dark or uneven. The color will lighten once it begins to dry. If you want a deeper color, apply a second coat of dye.

    7

Allow the satin shoes to air dry for 24 hours.
