How to Stop My Uggs From Smelling

Ugg boots, an Australian brand of "slipper" boots, are made with sheepskin. Because they are warm and toasty, the Ugg manufacturer website states that the boots are designed to be worn without socks. Unfortunately, when feet sweat inside of the boots, they begin to smell. Washing sheepskin in the washer is not an option as it may ruin the shape and material. Fortunately, removing smells from Ugg boots is not as difficult as you may think.

Instructions

Remove the insoles from the boots.

Mix 3 tbsp. of baking soda with 3 tbsp. of corn starch. Sprinkle half of the mixture into one boot, the other half into the other.

Stick your hand inside the boot and rub the corn starch/baking soda mixture into the bottom of the Uggs.

Allow the mixture to sit in the Uggs overnight.

Dump out the excess corn starch/baking soda mixture the following day. Replace the old insoles with new insoles.

Place a few drops of essential oil onto the insoles. Use your fingers to rub the essential oils into the insoles.

Repeat this procedure once a week to reduce odors.

Sprinkle the boots with foot powder each day before wearing them. This will help absorb some of the moisture inside of the boot throughout the day. Deodorizing foot powders are also made and may help with odor control.
