How to Eliminate Folds in Tall Leather Boots

Leather boots are a fashion statement that also keep you warm and dry. Get the most from them in comfort and appearance by taking care of the leather. You can do this by cleaning, drying and retreating the boots regularly. This will help prevent folds that develop as a result of dirt and wear.

Instructions

Dip the brush into lukewarm water and brush away the dirt on your boots -- particularly the boot folds. Dirt and mud buildup in the folds will age your boots faster and make the folds difficult to remove. If your boots are heavily soiled, use mild soap or find a leather-cleaning solution.

Let your boots dry at room temperature. Avoid using heat sources, such as a fireplace or radiator, that could present a fire hazard and can damage your boots.

Treat the leather with a waterproofing wax purchased from your local shoe store. Apply it with a sponge to the entire leather area of the boot. This wax coating will protect the boot from producing more folds and help seal existing folds.

Insert rolled-up magazines, bags or cardboard to keep the boot in standing position. This will encourage the boot folds to disappear and prevent further folds from developing when the boots are not used.
