How to Fix Boots That Were Washed and the Fur Stuck Together

Fur is a stylish accent to winter wardrobe staples, such as coats, gloves and boots. It not only helps to keep you warm, but it's also long lasting. Whether your boots are lined with real fur or faux fur, you might end up with a tangled mess as a result of washing them. When this happens, you don't have to replace the boots altogether. Instead, spend some time treating them as you would any other tangle and watch the fur come back to life.

Instructions

Shake off any excess moisture and then blot the boots with a towel. Unless you've already placed the boots in the dryer, make sure no moisture remains since it's what causes the fur fibers to stick together.

Pick apart the tangles using a wig brush. The brush's sharp bristles will help you release even the tiniest clumps. A few shed hairs per one-inch section is normal, but if you start to notice excessive shedding, stop and defer to a professional fur specialist.

Pass over the untangled section with a suede shoe brush after all matting is done. This will help smooth the fur and give it a neat appearance once again. Leave the boots in a well-ventilated area and avoid heat, which could damage the fibers that the fur is made from.
