How to Attach Jewels to Tennis Shoes

A little creative touch can make a pair of boring tennis shoes exciting and dazzling. Faux jewels add your own personal touch of color and style to your shoes. Bejeweling is easy to do on both old and new tennis shoes. It takes little time and effort and creates almost no mess. Jewels for decorating shoes and clothing are inexpensive and come in a variety of different shapes, colors and sizes.

Instructions

Clean your tennis shoes if they are dirty. Remove stains with an old toothbrush, soap and water, and let them dry. You can wash some tennis shoes in the washing machine and dry them in the dryer. Or, let your shoes dry next to a sunny window. Your shoes are ready to be jeweled when they are clean and completely dry.

Map out the pattern or design you want to create on each shoe. Move the unglued jewels around on the shoe to see how they will look when glued on. Lightly dot the shoes with the tip of a pencil marking the spot where each jewel will go. Remove the unglued jewels and lay them in order next to the shoe.

Apply a small dot of embellishing glue to the first pencil mark. Press the flat side of the jewel down on the glue spot and hold it for 10 seconds. Continue gluing the rest of the jewels.

Lay the freshly jeweled shoes on a clean, flat surface where the glue can dry. Drying make take up to 24 hours depending on the glue and the type of shoe material.
