How to Make Boots Smaller

A good pair of boots can do wonders for your wardrobe. Boots can easily make an outfit seem more casual or rugged and dressy boots can go well with a formal outfit, yet are often more comfortable to walk in than pumps. You can wear boots with jeans, leggings, and even dresses. If you've found a pair of boots that you just have to have, but which are slightly to big for your feet, you can make them smaller.

Instructions

Purchase a pair of cushioning insoles for your shoe size. Cut the insoles down to the appropriate size, by cutting along the dotted line at the toe of the shoe. Place the insoles inside your boot and adjust them so they're firmly in place.

Purchase ball of the foot cushions. While this type of cushion is usually just to absorb shock, it will lift your foot slightly, so that it's closer to the leather at the top of the boot, making your foot feel less like it's swimming in a gigantic boot. Peel off the backing of each cushion and place it firmly against the ball of the foot area of each boot.

Purchase heel pads for the boot. Peel off the backing so you expose the adhesive and press each heel pad against the inner heel of the shoe.

Try on your boots. The should feel considerably snugger. If they still feel too roomy, add another heel pad on top of the ones you've just attached. This will make them even smaller.
